February Cycling Conditions & Training Strategy
February is the heart of winter endurance riding across the southern tier of the United States. While northern latitudes endure freezing temperatures, cyclists in Florida, Texas, Arizona, and Southern California enjoy pristine blue skies and crisp, comfortable mornings that give way to mid-day highs in the low 70s. February centuries emphasize steady base-building miles, flat-to-rolling road courses, and paceline drafting efficiency. Events like early-season Florida loops and desert centuries in the Southwest draw thousands of traveling riders eager to log outdoor centuries months ahead of their local seasons. Preparation requires layered clothing for cool morning starts, attentive electrolyte management, and a measured pacing strategy. Completing a February century provides an incredible fitness benchmark and an unforgettable warm-weather winter getaway.
