Century Rides in Mississippi

Cycling in Mississippi: Terrain & Route Overview

Mississippi is a hidden gem for long-distance cyclists looking for smooth roads, rich cultural heritage, and warm Southern hospitality. The world-famous Natchez Trace Parkway runs diagonally across the state, providing an unbroken, commercial-vehicle-free ribbon of asphalt with a 50 mph speed limit, lush tree tunnels, and historical markers every few miles—an absolute paradise for century riders. In the Delta, pancake-flat roads pass historic blues landmarks and wide-open cotton fields where pacelines can maintain brisk tempos. Towards the south, routes through the De Soto National Forest and along the Gulf Coast offer gentle rollers and ocean air. With mild winters and pleasant shoulder seasons, Mississippi provides an inviting escape for cyclists seeking warmth and historic charm.
